01 Starting point
A home improvement group with billions in revenue and a strong online business wanted to add third-party sellers to its range for private and business customers in ten European countries. Many specialist teams were working in parallel, and coordination between them had become a bottleneck.
02 Task
The existing web shop was to become a marketplace quickly without putting day-to-day operations at risk. At the same time, the group needed a template that could be repeated in every country.
03 Solution
Mirakl was introduced as the marketplace back end. SAP Order Management Foundation manages orders that combine the group’s own goods with goods from third-party sellers. The integration runs serverless on Google Cloud Platform. Cloud Functions written in Go and Pub/Sub as an event mesh connect the systems, and Terraform describes the infrastructure as code. A KYC process onboards new sellers in a structured way.
Data flow
04 Result
- The assortment grew many times over, and new revenue streams were added.
- The group sees all marketplace orders in one place.
- The template for ten countries is available to the entire group.
- The program went live on time and on budget.
- Platzhalter: Zahl der Händler zum Start oder Umsatz nach 12 Monaten, nur falls freigegeben
