About Background and approach

Bridge builder between strategy, technology and delivery.

I am at my best where business model, technology and organization meet. I see myself as a Swiss army knife. I cover many topics and go deep where it matters.

01 My path

My knowledge of e-commerce comes from daily business. I started as an online marketing manager in 2007. On the side, I built online shops as a freelancer and developed strategies for Google Ads and search engine optimization, mostly for mid-sized companies.

In 2009 I joined BEAUTEK as the first online marketing employee and later led the e-commerce and marketing department. In 2017 I took over the inventory, the brand and a team of eight in an asset deal and became managing director and CTO. I cut fixed costs by 25 percent and invested the savings in growth.

After that I built a B2B shop from scratch, managed an advertising budget of 4.2 million euros as managing director of a subsidiary and launched international online shops within the Würth Group. Since 2022 I have been with KPS AG, where I combine business development with platform architecture and partner networks.

“It’s what you do in the dark that puts you into the light.”

My working principle

Visible success in the market rests on invisible work behind the scenes. That includes audit-proof ERP processes, clean payment processes and a tidy system landscape. Only this foundation makes growth possible.

A project that shaped me

I joined a DIY group’s marketplace program when coordination between many specialist teams had stalled. My job was to create structure, communicate clearly and bring the teams back together. The program went live on time and on budget. The client expanded its assortment many times over and opened up new revenue streams.

Since then I have been convinced that large transformations rarely fail because of technology. More often they fail because of communication. That is why I report results openly, the good and the bad.

02 How I work

Three principles that shape every project.

  • 01

    Report openly

Sugarcoating helps no one. I share good and bad news early and clearly, together with a proposal for the next steps.

  • 02

    Small teams, short paths

Every additional person brings new rounds of alignment and new sources of error. That is why I staff teams as lean as possible and as strong as necessary.

  • 03

    Foundation before facade

First I clarify data flows, processes and responsibilities, and only then do we scale. A shiny launch on shaky ground becomes expensive later.

03 Exchange

Conversations that leave both sides wiser.

I like people, good questions and discussions without slides. My favorite topics are the future of retail, the real potential of AI and the question of how much technology a company actually needs.
